This new-build family residence in Buckinghamshire is designed as a contemporary country home that balances modern architecture with the natural character of its rural surroundings. The project focuses on creating a calm, spacious environment for family living, while embracing the openness and tranquillity of the countryside.
The architecture adopts a simple yet striking form, combining pitched roof volumes with clean modern lines. Natural timber cladding and dark metal roofing were selected to complement the landscape, allowing the house to blend harmoniously into its setting while maintaining a refined architectural identity.
Large floor-to-ceiling glazing plays a central role in the design, bringing natural light deep into the interior spaces and framing views across the surrounding gardens and countryside. The open-plan ground floor connects the kitchen, dining, and living areas, creating a fluid and welcoming space designed for both everyday living and entertaining.
The interior design emphasises warmth, comfort, and simplicity. Natural materials such as wood, stone, and soft neutral finishes create a calm and timeless atmosphere throughout the home. Carefully integrated lighting enhances architectural features while maintaining a relaxed residential ambience.
The upper level provides private family accommodation, including spacious bedrooms and quiet retreat areas. Each room is designed to maximise daylight and views, reinforcing the connection between interior spaces and the surrounding landscape.
Outdoor living forms an important part of the design. A generous terrace and landscaped garden extend the living space outside, while a swimming pool and outdoor seating areas create a private environment for relaxation and family gatherings.
This project demonstrates a thoughtful approach to contemporary rural architecture, combining modern design, natural materials, and functional family living to create a refined country home in Buckinghamshire.
